Privacy Policy

Breakaway Bicycles, Inc. (“Breakaway,” “we,” “us”) is a bicycle rental shop operating in Houston, Texas. This policy explains what information we collect when you use our website and rental services, how we use it, and the choices you have. Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and a password, or your basic Google profile (name and email) if you sign in with Google. You may also provide your name and phone number.

Booking details. The dates, times, location, bikes, gear, rider count, promo codes, and any special requests you include in a reservation.

Identity verification. Before your first rental we verify your identity through Stripe Identity. Your government-issued ID and verification photos are collected and processed by Stripe under Stripe’s privacy policy; we receive and store only the verification result and the verified name on your ID.

Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number never touches our servers; Stripe provides us a secure reference to your payment method so we can process the charges described in your rental agreement (rental fees, security deposit holds, and any damage or late fees).

Rental agreement signature. When you sign the rental agreement and liability waiver we record your typed signature name, the time of signing, and the exact version of the document you signed.

Delivery address. If you choose delivery, we collect the street address you provide so we can quote a delivery fee and bring the bikes to you.

Equipment photos. Our staff photograph the condition of the equipment at pickup and return. These photos document the bikes, not you.

We use the information above to:

• process reservations, payments, deposits, and refunds;
• verify your identity before handing over equipment;
• send transactional emails such as booking confirmations, cancellation receipts, and password resets;
• quote and fulfill deliveries;
• document equipment condition and resolve damage disputes;
• maintain security, prevent fraud and theft; and
• comply with tax, accounting, and other legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

We share information only with the service providers that make the site work, and only for the purposes described here:

• Stripe — payment processing and identity verification.
• Supabase — hosting of our database and sign-in system.
• Google — optional Google sign-in, and delivery of our transactional email.
• OpenStreetMap Nominatim and OSRM — when you request a delivery quote, the address you enter is sent to these mapping services to locate it and measure the driving distance.

We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights, our customers, or our equipment (for example, reporting a stolen bike).

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. Your in-progress booking is saved in your browser’s local storage so you don’t lose your cart between visits; it stays on your device. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

We keep rental records, signed agreements, payment records, and equipment condition photos for as long as needed to meet legal, tax, and liability requirements. Account information is kept while your account is active.

You can view your bookings and update your name and phone number from your account page. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, email breakawaybikerentals@gmail.com. We will honor deletion requests except where we must retain records for legal or liability reasons (for example, signed waivers and transaction history).

All traffic to the site is encrypted in transit. Payment and ID documents are held by Stripe, not us. Access to customer records is limited to staff, and staff actions on bookings and equipment are logged.

Our services are intended for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account and rent equipment; kids’ bikes are rented by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If we make material changes to this policy we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email.
